A new unconventional Canon vlog camera will be released next week
Canon will release a new vlog camera next week that, according to the company, will bring new possibilities to vlogging. Although it is a vlogging camera, it will probably look different from others.
The unveiling of the new Canon vlog camera will happen next Thursday on May 11 in Japan. It is not surprising that Canon has opted for a vlog camera because the vlog segment is the only one that is experiencing significant growth.
Currently, competitors such as Nikon and Sony are fighting for a prominent place in this market with the Nikon Z30 and Sony ZV-1. It is therefore not surprising that Canon does not want to lag behind.

No specifications are known yet, and the teaser page doesn’t give much away either. But, we do know that the model will probably look different from other models. A few years ago, Canon applied for a patent for a kind of gimbal-camera combination, which is reminiscent of the DJI Pocket 2.

Canon seems to be targeting users looking for a plug-and-play device. Many novice vloggers are used to their smartphone, but want an upgrade. Because they are not yet used to larger cameras, buttons, ISO and aperture, they are looking for a camera that will turn on and make good videos. Looking at the patent application, Canon seems to meet those requirements.
